whenever someone says that our current system is a ‘perversion of democracy’ i have to ask the following: what, in your view, is democracy? how would it look in your ideal version? is there an objective, ‘pure’ version?

Chapman got the final five outs, Hendricks lasted 7 1/3, not 8 1/3.
also, nowhere in the article does it say that Altman doesn’t want to associate with Thiel - they’re friends in fact! - it only says that Altman doesn’t like the association Thiel has with Trump.
it’s a civil trial THERE IS NO GUILTY VERDICT
not so sure about that - seems to give her a bit more credit than i think anyone should.
i actually think the texts do imply ‘i’m about to get rich.’ she mentions the trial and mentions what she’ll do with the money in the same sentence... during a conversation about money. if the text conversation was about rape, or PTSD, or how she was feeling maybe i wouldn’t be so cynical.
totally agree with this. watching him do his thing while he was in a Red Sox uniform was often painful for me as a Yankee fan, but i always had to admire him. seems like a super nice guy as well.
mark phillipoussis, sandon stolle, thanasi kokinakkis, roger rasheed...
this is an unfortunate and completely inaccurate stereotype. tennis history is littered with great Aussie players who were (and are) also consummate gentlemen:
this isn’t complex at all. homomphobic slurs were used all the time in the 80s, when the show is set. part of making a show like this realistic is using common vernacular. Stranger Things is guilty of messing this type of thing up quite a bit, but using these slurs is spot-on for the time they’ve set their story.
i mean that there were several circumstances when Betances was brought in. and the fact that they decided he was disposable enough to bring Chapman in. these things just don’t say ‘true closer’ to me.
because as Rose’s lawyer you might as well ask the question and see if Doe’s lawyers object to it. I suppose they could have objected on the basis of ‘she’s not an expert,’ and frankly i don’t know why they didn’t - or if they didn’t.
is it possible that the use of Miller in innings before the 9th is because of the way he was used on the Yankees? he wasn’t really used as the closer there either even though he’d proven himself as the best arm.
haha ‘history’s bitch.’ i know Sox fans enjoyed the hell out of ‘04 (i lived in Mass when it happened), but that’s a bit excessive no?
christ, i had no idea he was that tall. interesting!
isn’t her take part of a larger issue in the men’s game though?
there are some great players on the horizon for sure, i’d include Dominic Thiem as my favorite to watch.
yes. less than $10k for a Daytona is a great price, even ‘lightly used.’ many of the used ones would go for far more than that.
this is lovely
of course billionaires looking for handouts from taxpayers to increase their bottom lines is a terrible idea. however, it is disingenuous with respect to this specific case to pretend that what Michelle Rhee did by closing schools and laying off teachers had anything at all to do with the stadium financing deal.
