"Male" and "female" are adjectives. Male humans are called MEN, just like female humans are called WOMEN. If I were describing a male sheep, I'd call him a ram and if I were describing a female sheep, I'd say ewe.

I work in a male-dominated industry and hearing someone refer to "females" is something I instantly, automatically correct. They do it innocently and usually are totally confused when I jump in. When asked to explain, I say exactly what you've detailed: it's a gender designation we use with animals.
Excuse me? There are contexts where referring to women as "females" is not inappropriate (in medical and scientific situations, for instance), but it's not a coincidence that it's a preferred term for asshole misogynists. I have a lifetime of experience that tells me that calling women "females" in a casual context is…
The series is pretty excellent so far - I have watched the first 4 episodes last week and I am really looking forward to more. It has been a while since a kdrama actually excited me.
yeah,i don't even want to see him in clothes
The answer's no, Jonathan!
alternate title: Holes 2
I don't want to see Shia LeBeouf have sex. End of story.
I read this this morning and realized that you can add up all the existentialist writings of the twentieth century and it still won't amount to one tenth of this story's distillation of what it means to be a lonely soul in a meaningless universe.
I wanna see a rebooted Columbo with John Leguizamo
Oh, its happening.
Actually, words have meaning. The word making means you are talking about an action in progress, not one that already happened. You are saying that the author is doing the making, when in fact the us vs. them dichotomy was set up by the people who created these groups. There's no "making" going on. It's made.
Making this an us vs them issue does absolutely nothing to help matters.
Respectfully, the Duggars supported Bill Gothard for years while the Recovering Grace allegations were published online. There was no excuse for them to not know about the allegations of his sketchy and abusive behaviour except willful ignorance. They were associating themselves with him at the same time as multiple…
The Duggars are VERY involved in Gothard's cult. They follow his life teachings (remember Michelle's list of tips to keep your husband happy that included the crazy hair rules? That's a Gothard publication) and use his homeschooling materials. The homeschooling conference they go to every year is ATI, which is part of…
One night I spent a while reading publications of the Quiverfull movement, then I went to Quivering No More, which was for former members to tell their stories. There was a section where they asked a variety of members from a variety of situations the same questions about their lives. (how did you get involved in…
That's fair enough, Airahead and thanks for responding. It seems to me that you don't like the mention of the Duggars because you think they're nice people who aren't doing any harm to anyone; they're just "living their lives" (which is strangely, the consistent thing I hear from people whenever we write about them.)…
Ugh ugh ugh.
So, not completely on topic, but this reminds me of that one time last fall when I forgot to change the channel after the Colbert Report ended and ended up watching the first few minutes of Tosh.0. He decided to start up that episode by showing a clip of a "ghetto" (his words) black guy streaking and saying it was…
If I'm taking a pass on sex because Aunt Flo's in town, I don't need to take my pants off to tell a guy. I can just, you know.. say so.
