If you’re avoiding fights by doing labor and not bringing it up, I think you at that point have to just get over it. Either have the fight now or decide you’re not resentful. Wanting to have the issue aired but not wanting a fight leads to lots of seething unhappiness over a long time.

I feel like this would lead to a fight instead of avoiding one.  I know I do most of the chores in the house after I get home, but pointing that fact out to my wife will likely not go well.

Depends on the recession, but ‘mild’ is never a great word to describe the forces that cause a growing national economy to turn around and shrink, even for a short time. The post dot-com/9-11 recession was short and shallow, but nobody remembers it fondly and the harm experienced by a lot of people far outlasted the

I swear this method works for getting up with only a couple of caveats: 1) you can’t go to bed jangling from caffeine and 2) if you are truly dead-tired, your body will overrule the method.

What if that downturn doesn’t come for 2 more years?

I agree with much of what you’re saying and I’m only a few years behind you (33) and in the same boat of trying to figure out what gives me purpose.

As a measure of freedom - and it’s not a short road and there are other blocks ( e.g. it’s a big mental leap ) - having enough money to be able to take *the* stand at work if you are asked to do something which goes against your moral compass is a huge stress reliever.

I’m struggling with this as well. I’m trying to reduce the number of years I have to work and am banking pretty much everything I can. That said, I just had a Friday/Monday off jaunt and was discovering myself in a “yeah, I COULD do X, but am bored” mentality. Makes me think I need to find more or better hobbies.

My retirement goal is to quit working at a higher standard of living than I now enjoy. I see that as being able to travel, visit (and spoil) future grandkids, and live somewhere beautiful.

I’ve seen two or three colleagues retire over the last ten years only to kick off a year or two into retirement.

I have been chronically terrible with saving money for my working adult life until the last couple of years as my career progressed, my monthly spending was inflating in direct correalation to my salary increases and eventually I just thought to myself this is so stupid. My advice (what worked for me) was making a

Best thing I ever did was buy a second property. The rental income pays the mortgage for me. Then after saving another down payment, I bought another property. It’s also paying for itself. Once the mortgages are paid off (by the tenants, ha ha) I’ll own them both outright. Worst case scenario, no matter how bad the

Saving is hard until you build the habit, but it is also immensely rewarding.

Kama Sutra - couple workouts since 400 BCE :)

I feel like I have met a lot of white people who say authentic but they mean stereotypical. Like if you try to perform what feel authentic to you, they feel you are putting on an act and you have to conform to their manufactured ideas about authenticity or you are not living up to their standards.

This isn’t going to a popular opinion, but my husband works for Jet, it’s a cool company and on the whole is pretty good to it’s employees. To be honest from what I’ve been told nothing has really changed since they were taken over by Walmart.com. If anything Walmart.com (which is separate from Walmart the store) has

Most dealers understand exactly what you just said and I have very good relationships with numerous dealers nationwide who offer me great prices and treat my customers well.

Do they know you’re not just an ordinary individual buyer?

Same way we got suckered into wearing asscrack hiphugger plumber’s jeans again - - history repeats itself +people never learn.
