She is incredible. It's so sad to me that teen moms get written off. My mom got a master's degree while I was a kid. Why can't a younger mom?

The CEO of my old company was a young mother (had a child at 19 and then another at 21). Her husband left her soon after the second child and she is now pioneering a huge amount of social change in my state in Australia. It's really great to hear about women who rise from shitty situations to do amazing things.

SNIPERS on his front lawn? For (what turned out to be false) alleged robbery? Jesus Christ.

My thoughts exactly, Wit has very little to do with that show...

The quick wit we've come to expect from Honey Boo Boo

Are we sure the girls didn't just make it up?

"Letting him down gently means letting him think you would but you can't, not that you can but you wouldn't."

I think you might have missed part of these stories— everyone here is telling you about times when they -weren't- rude to people, or were only rude (if you call running away from an aggressor screaming "Get away from me" rude, rather than terrified) after being polite didn't do anything to deter them.

Is London completely void of sexism and gendered violence? Because, where I come from, women have reasonable fear of strange men, and that's why my father, to this day, is wary of any man my sisters and I bring around.

To put it simply: it's not my job to be polite to people that may or may not intend to assault and/or

That's so horrible! I'm glad you're okay, and that you had an ally at least in the Lyft driver.

The first thing that popped into my head when I read this was "why didn't she just give them a fake number?" Which is horrible, because women shouldn't HAVE to give out fake numbers to get guys to leave them alone.

#NotAllMen but enough of us that this bullshit happens.

Somehow I feel even more justified for keeping my old business cards that literally said my name which has changed now, old number, and old email. It isn't fool proof but it does give them pause. They have to take the card, look at it, and then dial the number. As opposed to me giving them the number and them

Yeah, except we're not entirely sure who these men were, and the religious fanatics, at this point, is mostly just speculation.

No, she was killed by men that were a bunch of outrageous religious beliefs because she refused to give out her number.

I think that's missing the point. The article says stories conflict but in any case patriarchal power structures in religious organizations and cults are not gender neutral. And a group of men violently targeting a woman is still gender-based intimidation and violence.

Go back and read #4 again. The things you outline in your first paragraph are because of patriarchy. Patriarchy assumes and expects men to be strong, powerful and aggressive and women to be passive, weak and vulnerable. Men who do not conform are taunted not because of "misandry," but because they do not fit the
