We have had that discussion. He absolutely understands his privilege and gets that he is in a better place than I am.

My husband refuses to watch because he knows how painful it is and how seriously I take it. He actually admitted he couldn’t handle watching women being treated like that because it’s so close to becoming reality.

I respect that he doesn’t want to watch it, but I have left the book out on the table though- to tempt him

As a historian this offended me more than the fact that they pretty much force religious study by “otherdom”

I’ve had to pay costs too. Mine was $60. And while that is not back breakingly expensive for me now, it was then- when I didn’t have health insurance and was making $12 an hour. So I can understand how that hurts for poorer people.

My favorite reply is a big overblown “OH MY GOD NO!!! I HAD ABSOLUTELY ZERO IDEA!!! I NEVER SAW THE BLACKENED LUNG IN HEALTH CLASS!!! THANK YOU KIND STRANGER!!!”
