Like, I sincerely believe she is trying to be a nice person who wants to be good, but what with the extreme wealth disparities and 24/7 social media access, that forces anyone with that platform who’s trying to engage with users as a real person and also as a product is going to end up in a very bad place.

Absofatfuckinglutely. But fatphobia is so nearly universally accepted that folks legitimately need sanity checks for something that they know to be right.

I didn’t keep track, but I got through about five seasons and there are multiple mentions. Like, not just in passing once or twice in that time, but like 3–5 times per season.

fwiw, a sorta old US person, I only heard of him from an appearance or two from Nevermind the Buzzcocks.

Except Alia Shawkat. She named his behavior as unacceptable. It was the men castmates who were there, they all stood by and tried to smooth things over to keep Tambour and the readership comfortable. This is the kind of bystandership we need to stop in every aspect of our lives.

Her books were the first that I ever encountered real girl characters: they weren’t moral warnings or models. They were awkward, wonderful, troublesome, unique, fully envisioned people. And they didn’t have to be pretty to matter or be worthy of notice.

See Joe Rogan and why I can’t rewatch News Radio

Just Shoot Me has a ton of Trump nods that are that awful we-don’t-mean-it-but-we-actually-do edgelording which might be the most destructive thing about the 90's.

A really good actor. Just Shoot Me is pretty hard to rewatch (I tried in the early days of lockdown, but the sexism starts bad and only gets worse, overshadowing a really good ensemble), but Virginia Woolf is a classic. RIP.

I mean, the man left not just his country, but being a freakin’ prince for his wife and the only life he’s known outside the military. I’m sure he’s made some mistakes as a husband, but he certainly chose her side over his family, one of the richest and most powerful in the world.

If nothing else, he understands chains of command and dependencies (plus a bunch of other things, I’m sure). As a prince with his particular history, he also clearly understands strategic and tactical PR and media. I’m not a fan of monarchy, rich people, or non-profits, but I bet he’s better qualified than a bunch of

:laughs in non-profit: Seriously though, they will waaaay underpay you and still expect you to donate $$$ annually. It’s madness.

Free Portia

True, but not apparently they don’t give a shit about women’s bodily autonomy.

I was legitimately a little sad to see him here. I was rooting for him, particularly after Party Down.

The worse sexism I’ve ever experienced have come from guys like this using those same shitty excuses. They are desperate to feel power over someone, and are savvy AF at identifying who they can get away with being awful to.

Or maybe they were a bunch of sexist assholes (or a few sexist assholes a few cowards who wouldn’t stand up for their colleague.

I mean, I get how you’d want more concrete accusations, but up until a day or so ago, everyone on here was saying the same thing about Ray Fischer about Whedon. Then the Synder cut showed how Whedon cut a ton of scenes with characters portrayed by POC and/or women.

It screws up your opportunities everywhere. Even when people know you’re right. Maybe especially when they do.

We seriously need to have some life skills lessons on how to accept being called out on your shitty behavior like a goddamn adult because it’s an epidemic.
