I feel like the show made it worse. I’d started the books a few years before S1 was released. I’d enjoyed them and plowed through them all (as I generally do once I land on a series I enjoy), but waiting for the next one wasn’t a big deal, probably because I’d come in just before the most recent book was released. But

Who would have thought that a bunch of us would ever get nostalgic for the hyper-local pitchmen (and growing up, they were all men) with their cheesy local commercials? As a Bay Area kid, I wonder what Paul from the Diamond Center is doing right now.

Sadly, the edgelords have grown to adulthood and apparently enough survived to get themselves into positions of power.

I still think the most epic Rickroll was during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade back whenever that was. I had to explain it to my parents.

More likely they’ll get a DMCA takedown, so we’d better watch them while we can!

It doesn’t update very often, but there’s a fun Tumblr out there called Fashion It So with a healthy archive that looks at all the non-uniform fashion in TNG. I was hoping that they’d move on to DS9 or pick it up again given the pandemic, but that does not appear to be so.

I couldn’t get past her vocal affectations, although I’ll admit “Spiderwebs” is solid and I appreciate that “Cool” is like one of the only adult, amicable breakup songs I can even think of.

Well, making waaaay more money and having more visibility and with that particular name, the decent thing would have been to not choose the name of an already established Black artist, but hey.

There’s also The [English] Beat, but using “Antebellum” in your name is SUCH a specific choice.

LOL they did “White Christmas” as their sole number on the CMA Christmas show last year, so yes, they give zero fucks.

Good thing their kids are going to have money because they’re going to need a shit-ton of therapy.

This. It’s much easier to binge a bunch of tightly/more tightly plotted stories than one that meanders without meaning. Most things have me checking the time after 70 minutes or so these days, even if I’m enjoying them.

I’m with Marnie on this one, but as a Bay Area native, I have to push the It’s-It as the best ice cream sandwich. The oatmeal cookies (no raisins) are just the perfect balance of soft and firm, and more interesting than a chocolate wafer or chocolate chip cookie, imo.

I’ve seen a couple of grocery baggers make that stuff look like legit ballet. The economy of motion, the grace and control with different types of things using their different weights as they’re placed in different bags—truly artful.

Coincidentally enough, I watched a Futurama episode with Bob Ueker right after watching this.

Hasn’t goth always been bleak? Sort of the point? Beautiful dark bleakness? I’ve always thought it was interesting that both hedonism and asceticism can fold into it, though.

problem is those people are not at all swayed by evidence-based arguments

I think about how whichever movie studio did Susan Cooper’s Dark is Rising series wrong, and I legit wonder if they are simply unable to properly adapt non-dystopian YA fantasy due to lack of will, faith, or being able to throw nepotism to the wind and hire people who could actually pull this stuff off.

I’ll go make some cheese and tommie-toe toasties.

The soundtrack alone makes me smile and lowers my blood pressure!
