The choices D&D made re: character changes and beats from the books to the show are interesting, particularly Dany, Cersei, and Jaime; maybe Sansa and Bran, too. Based on how their arcs shape up, things they’ve said in the commentary, I think they disagreed with Martin on a few things that feel fundamentally

I actually think they would have made a great team: she’s the highly rational and pragmatic leader, which he could temper to make a bit more human. ...Although rebuilding all this will require a very strong leader, so I’m not mad.

The fact that he’s sort of genuinely acting while they’re hamming it up could be in gold the right writer’s and director’s hands.

God, the hairpieces were as bad as the sketch

Still one of my great comfort reads. That San Francisco doesn’t really exist anymore (the two final ones do capture a bit of the changed city, albeit from a white and privileged perspective), but they do make me homesick.

I mean, I thought most celebrities were desperate to not be recognized and treated like normal people, but upon reflection, this is a Kardashian. They’re all so thirsty, I’m surprised desert doesn’t magically follow them wherever they go, leaving a plague of dust storms and drought in their wakes.

They could also be trustafarians and not used to people not having money.

I want an AOC/Warren Weekend Update yesterday

It’s funny you say that as there’s a video game character in Dragon Age II who I would bet all kinds of money is modeled on Brienne and through the course of the game comes to lead the city watch.

It would have been nice, but the Lord Commander doesn’t write their own entry, but they are responsible for everyone else’s. Her successor will write her page.

It’s such arrogance and selfishness that D&D didn’t just take a step back and let one of the other executive producers take the reins if they were so burnt out.

I can hardly wait for the gag orders on the actors to expire. So many of them (Turner, Clarke, Coster-Waldau, Christie, and Hill just off the top of my head) have dropped hints at their grave disappointment and disagreement with how their characters and the story were handled.

Brienne is also the heir (if not the ruler?) of House Tarth in the Stormlands. Gendry’s new to lordship and they need reps from as many of the kingdoms as they can get. We never find out about her dad’s fate, and I don’t think she’s on the Kingsguard yet, so she’d still be landed and titled.)

1. The cast deserves all the awards for doing their utmost to sell shitty writing

I mean, Pod squired for Brienne before anyone (in the show; Pod adopted her before him in the books which makes their line extra sweet in the show if you pretend that canon) aside from Jaime saw her as shit, and survived the battle of the dead. I think that’s genuinely worth a knighthood!

I would buy a ticket to her live commentating on GoT episodes. Hell, I’d buy a ticket to her commenting on anything. She should get in the Rifftrax biz.

Excellent point. They’re certainly doing more work than the writers at trying to make the characters make sense.

Also, consider that as a priest, most of his interactions are with his parishioners, who even if they aren’t actually devout, will feel like they need to pretend to be around him and treat him with deference. As an atheist, Fleabag’s probably one of the only people in a while he’s had an extended conversation with who

At this point, I know the only satisfying, well-thought out thing about tonight’s finale will be the memes.

Because most US cities have shit public transport?
