I disagree. Going vegetarian often goes in two different directions—eating a healthier, more balanced diet, or eating an unhealthier diet based on things like chips, fries, veggie pizza, grilled cheeses, cheese quesadillas, and carb-and-sugar laden foods. The latter is especially the case for those that go veg in high

Exactly. It's completely hypocritical to decry slaughterhouses, and then run one of their own. And while I don't think this is fair, there's a hell of a lot of people who care about dogs and and cats more than other animals, simply because they have more experience and close bonds with them. Killing dogs and cats

The weight/loss fitness industry and overweight/obesity are intertwined. People that lose weight on a set "system" whether a diet or exercise plan, then must strictly adhere to that plan to adhere to that weight. And often, many are unable to sustain that diet/exercise program/weight, and gain weight. And when people

I think that is true for some people, but not everyone. I'm definitely a stress-eater at times. But for me, the times I've been at my skinniest, lowest weight is when I was severely depressed. When I'm really depressed, I often just stop eating. And unfortunately, the times when I've been at my happiest, I gain

PETA deserves the vitriol. Their track record has done more to push people away from animal rights, and they are complete hypocrites to complain about animals being treated unethically and then killing nearly every animal that went into its shelter. It basically runs a doggy/kitty death camp. And as someone who cares

There are many, many reasons to hate PETA. The reasons I hate PETA is because it's done more to hurt animal welfare/rights by causing people to associate "animal rights" with "bat-shit crazies who hate humans." And it's practice of euthanizing 99% of the animals in their shelter pretty much offending and alienated all

I think promoting vegetarianism/veganism as a way to lose weight is mistaken and dishonest. There are many good reasons to promote either—in terms of animal welfare, or a healthier diet (if being veggie causes you to change your diet in a way that includes more fruits and veggies and less processed foods). BUT, it

No, PETA does not have a good cause. They're "shelter" was basically a death camp for dogs and cats (at least some of whom may have been healthy and adoptable). If they actually care about animals, they care in a very warped way. What they certainly do care about is getting attention. And they have done more harm to

I can't explain, but I've definitely seen the same thing, again and again. And although I feel it's really common with Catholics, I've also seen it with other Christian denominations... it seems that many of the most pious are the ones who are also the ones who are "sinning" the most...

Another question... a friend of mine is finally getting up the nerve to leave her emotionally abuse husband. Any ideas on how to support her in that decision? She's waffled on it on and off for a while, but I'm worried she's going to lose the nerve and just stay, as she had before.

Anyone with SAD use a light box? My dr recommend it, and I have one, but I feel my morning schedule is too inconsistent/hectic for me to do use it routine at the same time...unless I wake up early and stop sleeping in entirely :(

I'm glad you'll be going home! I hope your recovery continues speedily!

Ughh the pitying looks! I hate them!

Yep, I'm in exactly that boat, and it's extremely lonely and isolating. And I'm in a new town, and trying really hard to meet people... but just haven't made many real friends. At least I have my cats :/

Stay away from Katsco Properties, and be careful if you look around North Campus/Olde North...that area has gotten shadier over the years. I'd suggest looking at somewhere in Clintonville or Grandview, though I have no recommendations for companies to rent from... I know a lot of people that have lived in Olentangy

Your doctor is an asshole. I recommend finding a new one, or going to a psychiatrist, to discuss getting on a combination of meds and therapy. "Toughen up" is one of the worst things you can say to someone that is depressed.

I've had that happen once before and I was so pissed at the owners who left their vicious dog off-leash...my dog was on leash, but he got aggressive with the other dog and managed to pull out of his collar... breaking that up was not easy. At least he wasn't bothered by it, after the fact... your poor doggy! and kid!

I'm in the same boat.... however, I still would be hesitant to meet up with anyone through craigslist...
