The obvious play would be for WRXC to schedule against the X Games dates if they want to steal big names for championship runs. If you say that the big name drivers that want to gun for the WRXC championship would have to run races there to score points, or run GRC for TV Time....I think it puts Foust, Block, and

I think is GRC could get to a 15-16 event schedule, they could put on a great show all over the place. Or even if they did more double-feature stuff. Who knows.

Yea, their scheduling may have bit them for a lot of people in that situation. They had originally scheduled themselves on top of the second night of GRC racing, and pushed it back to Friday night to avoid that. But then SEMA was wrapping at that point, so maybe people (like yourself) were already on their way home.

The thing GRC has going for it is that it's easy to make it a companion series for a lot of other, bigger events. Obviously since it was an ESPN creation, it gets top billing at the 3-4 Summer X-Games (now if only they did a Winter X Games version...). But Speedway Motorsports Inc has seemed to grabbed on and has

You happen to go over to the Stadium Super Truck race Friday night? Heard they put on a good show at Ceasar's Palace too.

Very true! And you don't want to mess with him...he's big.

I guess teams like Newman because he is very sponsor-friendly. Well spoken, does well at events, etc. And wins from time to time.

Things to ponder when looking at RCR's 2014 driver line-up...(data per Wikipedia)

#3 Austin Dillon - Nationwide (2 wins, 51 T10's, 74 starts) / Trucks (1 Championship, 5 wins, 34 T10's, 54 starts)
#27 Paul Menard - Cup (1 win, 34 T10's, 251 starts) / Nationwide (1 win, 76 T10's, 183 starts)
#31 Ryan Newman - Cup (17

At first I thought you were mentioning IROC, but then I realized you were probably talking about the Race of Champions.

No, but I had a friend that studied abroad there :-P

I just appreciate international racing when I can catch it.

I found video on YouTube from Suzuka, but it has the original Japanese broadcasters with very little translation (usually only when interviewing drivers).

Now playing

I never actually got to see any of the international exhibitions persoanlly. I jsut wish NASCAR did them again because man would it be fun to see NASCAR outside of the US (and not Nationwide/Trucks in Canada/Mexico).

Here's a gem...how about video from the Calder Park "Thunderdome" Goodyear 500, the first NASCAR

Quick and dirty research, I apologize.

The first Asian driver to qualify for a race was Hideo Fukyama, who made four races (two in 2002, 2 in 2003) in seven attempts. He was encouraged to try his hand at NASCAR by Dale Earnhardt Sr. after NASCAR ran several exhibition races in Japan (late 90's...actually kind of miss

Darrell Wallace came up through NASCAR thanks to their Drive for Diversity program, which gives drivers and pit crew members of all backgrounds a chance to try out for a spot with Rev Racing, which runs offers ride and crew positions through different levels of racing (K&N Pro Series down through INEX Legends). Their

Let's not forget FIFA. It's a neck to neck competition to see who can have the dirtier selection process, haha.

The IOC can't be happy about that...they want their stadiums to be big and expensive.

People in Cleveland are still complaining about the road shutdowns to film scenes for this movie. I keep telling them to stop complaining...a blockbuster filmed in their streets and brought money to their economy.

That is Today, October 19th, BTW

Crandon Tape Delay - Round 9/Round 10

NBC Sports Network, TODAY, October 19th, 4:30 PM ET

As a side note, they just announced Round 14 will be held at Las Vegas during SEMA Show Week. Three divisions of racing (SST's, USA Pro SuperMoto, Modified Trophy Karts) on Thursday, November

I miss this and Battlebots. Classic Comedy Central TV.

The "Beat the Geeks" format could work well for Nerdist or something along those lines.
