@tonyola: I'll give you the technicality. In '79 the "Grand Marquis" was an option package of the "Marquis" which is the Panther car you posted above. But there was no official "Grand Marquis" model from 1979 - 1982.

Not much to add other than the '89+ Cougar was available with the Supercharged 3.8L V6 and a manual trans.

I'm either lucky or am missing out on part of the experience. Of all of the 15 cars I have owned in my 30 years, none have been carbureted or had points ignition.
