Watched this race for 30 or so laps, and I have to say, I get it now. It’s been one of the most entertaining races I’ve ever seen.

I love the Spanish announcer say “THE BIG ONE—EL GRANDE!”

This looks like a traction-based and aero ‘assisted’ rollover, due to the nose of the 46 digging in under the rear quarter panel where there isn’t much structure.

Look at the video (1:53 is a great place to start). He didn’t spin the person in front of him, he faked him out, and the lead car overcompensated, trying to stay in front, and was who actually initiated contact.

Another benefit of loosening the fill plug first is the component will drain faster. If you were to leave it on it would drain in a glug glug fashion, where big spurts come out, because there’s a vacuum being created. By allowing air to come in through the fill port it creates a smoother flow.

I really don’t like the move 90% of the time, but this time Edwards clearly had the momentum and was closing on Busch during the final 4 laps. I’m just glad he didn’t wreck Busch because such a move is questionable, especially during a turn. If I was in charge of NASCAR I would revise the points system to penalize…
