Believe me when I say I'm all for throwing efficiency out the window (fak you, wind-tunnels!); that car is gorgeous. But...McLaren is in the super-car business and, although it seems counter-intuitive at this market level, the numbers do matter there.

Missed opportunity aside, it's a mid-rear engine design. The longer bonnet of "proper GT cars" comes from having a front-mid engine. Lengthening the nose on this would simply make it longer than it has to be and thus an inefficient use of material.

Those have to be the worst looking wheels on a supercar. Im sure I can find a similar set at Discount tire

What? All they did was take a 12c rear and a P1 face.

How is that bad to think about? Lamborghini has done it with the 670 and 570. Ferrari has done it with the Speciale and 430 Scuderia. Everyone does it. It isn't a bad thing. Since when was making faster versions of cars a bad thing?

It's just a 12C with a power bump and a new front end.

I suppose it could have been worse; they could have used the front of this years F1 car instead...

BMW got a contract to build a vehicle with no turn signals, so it was a perfect fit.

The US Bobsled team approached GM first, but their solution was to put a bigger engine in it.

Then they asked Ford for help, but the design they came back with had a solid beam axle in the back, for some reason.

Chrysler's sled design was also a complete failure, as it looked exactly like the last gold medal sleigh,

Don't forget a V16 Caddy.

You shut your whore mouth. Rotaries sound amazing. I grew up with that sound.

Out. Get out. GTFO. Out. You're done. No more Jalopnik for you.

Just lift it high enough that I don't have to look at it.

I think it's miles better. The old one was, basically, this:

The amount of douchebaggy bullshit is too damn high. It's not like road cars take away money from their F1 programme in the long run - it's the exact opposite. It does appear that you're forgetting the reason Enzo built road cars.

They made McLaren F1 20 years ago and there were no Ferraris could match its top speed or even made it close until now.

No heritage? No Prestige?

"We"?

oh so your talking about Ferrari? since they haven't been consistently competitive since Kimi won the title?

I absolutely hated the old one, and insisted it would be eventually regarded worse than the Mondial in Ferrari's history.
