Excellent point — and again, nobody seems concerned about that being irregular or improper.

He’s kind of a Schrodinger’s cat at this point. The show hasn’t mentioned whether or not he’s dead, which is kind of a hilarious omission given that Melisandre keeps bringing up the success of her blood magic as a reason for Stannis to do what she says.

Most obviously, the reigning Targaryens were renowned for having wed brother and sister and practiced polygamous incest for hundreds of years. While this ended up being a bad idea in practice, for obvious reasons of inbreeding, it was the predominant model of the royal dynasty for many generations. Outside the

Right. Cersei’s manipulations only ever take into consideration the short-term, immediate benefits to her, not any long-term consequences. As a result she is constantly reactive, constantly defensive, and usually scrambling to hold onto whatever power she can without thought to downsides. Without Tywin keeping her in

Yeah, pretty sure the sticking points here aren’t so much the incest per se, which is pretty tame (cousins are not thaaat big a deal, especially in this world), but adultery while married to the king — generally considered treason! — and then arranging the death of said king.

Yeah, the white dress = virginity idea is a complete retcon. White dresses weren’t fashionable until Queen Victoria married in one in 1840, and it caught on in part because it was impractical and expensive. Only after white dresses were a widespread trend did etiquette books start arguing that they symbolized

It was a lot of fun! We actually had a ton of unmarried friends at our wedding because we were the first of our extended social group to tie the knot, so it was a big raucous group and surprisingly entertaining. (And the cute outcome was just a cherry on top.) I recommend it if you end up tossing!

I put my foot down on the garter toss, because that shit is gross, but we did a low-key bouquet toss with all unmarrieds, both men and women, single and dating. The best man, my brother-in-law, ended up catching it, and we have the MOST ADORABLE photograph of him and his then-girlfriend looking sheepish and pleased

I’m so happy that airport bench dude made it, because it’s like this whole mystery wrapped up in a single sext. Why an airport bench? Clearly this is a very specific fantasy , but why? What is the scene he’s imagining? Have they just met cute at security when he accidentally gets her suitcase and vice versa, because

I came here specifically to post this, and I’m so happy someone beat me to it.

It is absolutely incredible what a powerful motivator those off-handed compliments can be. It feels exhilarating and energizing and when I hear that phrase “nothing tastes as good as skinny feels” I suspect that this is what it really means — nothing is so powerful as seeing people’s eyes light up when they see you.

That’s great, because the opportunity to attend events with you has no bearing upon their job performance or prospects. Not the case with congressional staffers.

A good friend of mine just got engaged, and I’m urging her to hire a wedding planner because she has a FUCKED UP relationship with her family, with all kinds of weird dynamics and history. She’s already dreading so much of the planning process. A buffer between her and her family, not just in terms of managing

Serious. And it’s not just the dresses! Here’s what these poor kids have probably shelled out for already, which would all be affected by a last minute change of dress (assuming you could find/afford one on such short notice):

Nooo, Chris, don’t become an insufferable Crossfit stan. I don’t want my pure and abiding love for you to be sullied. :/

I find “liking Wolf of Wall Street” to be a remarkably effective screening mechanism in my life. Thanks, Scorcese.

I was actually disappointed that Roose didn’t respond with a line from the books that indicates that he actually likes Walda (I believe the words used are “fond” and “endearing”) and enjoys sex with her more than he did with his previous wives. It definitely would have pushed back on Ramsay’s dumbass comments.

This is a good point. There are things about my husband that drive me absolutely bonkers and which we fight about regularly, that of course I would love to see change. But I also know that, even if that change never happens, his positive attributes and the strength and value of our relationship are worth holding on

Cersei is expecting the High Sparrow to respond and operate the way everyone else around her does: in a political, you-scratch-my-back-I’ll-scratch-yours reciprocal way. But that’s not the HS’s m.o. at all. He’s a single-minded zealot, and he’d never betray his own goals for the sake of repaying a favor.
