Likely, the investment to start a production line (new tooling, train workers, taking resources away from production cars, etc.) isn’t worth the potential revenue to be gained from making them.

This is sadly true. European culture tends towards a much more casual relationship with life, and death than in the US. 

It DOES hurt their brand though. That you can buy what many would argue is a more “authentic” Jeep, from a non-FCA company is kind of a disaster for them. 

If they said ‘Yes, this IS racism, but it’s really harmless, and I don’t care about people being racist towards white people,’ that makes sense to me. But you can’t just change the meaning of words.
