Nah, free pass is like when you're expected to give a game perfect scores but give it an 8 out of 10 or 4 stars out of 5 and its fans want you lynched like what happened to Eurogamer and G4 reviewing Uncharted 3.

I was one of the people who didn't like NSMBWii when it came out. But after playing it with my friends much later, I've retracted most of my negative opinions over it. It's an excellent example of a game from a popular series trying to achieve a wholly different experience while maintaining trademarks of its roots.

It was delicate and would break if you recklessly sat on it or kept it upside and put pressure on it; but there is no greater feeling than playing Super Mario 64/Mario Kart/Ocarina of Time/Star Fox 64 with a brand new N64 controller. I swear no control stick has felt accurate enough to match it to me.

I would assume that if it has to be something that intricate, then that loophole was meant to be found and exploited. So it will work because the protagonist/antagonists managed to cheat the rules and bend reality to their goals.

That's not a good analogy as green beans are a food and changing taste buds is a biological fact of life. Also, because you don't like green beans as much anymore, does that mean you will hold a stance to never eat them again no matter what because you've convinced you outgrew them? Probably not.
