Yeah, this is probably it...I recently saw a twitter thread talking about exactly what you are saying...the writers of both Die Harder and Men In Black were complaining cheekily about how those movies “still lose money to this day” so they haven’t seen a single dime of royalties since the movies are still in the red.

It really seems like they just expect the world from any game not developed internally...like they must expect these games to pull in the same kind of numbers as Final Fantasy and even coming 1% short of that is a complete failure in their eyes.

I know a huge Potter fan who still plays Pokemon Go...and even at the start of the pandemic, they were cooling off on the Harry Potter game. They said it just wasn’t as engaging as Pokemon...so I think it has much more to do with the collection a familiar creatures vs. random fantasy monsters.

I see where you are coming from, but an even better way would be to take that money entirely out of the hands of the police and put it in the hands of programs dedicated to such community building, such as Libraries.  One could even say you would defund the police in order to improve services to all.
