we don’t live in your libertarian fantasy, you nut. good governance is based on reality; it’s based on real things people do and the real consequences those have. it is absolutely not based on impossible ideals and “how things are supposed to work”

No. You’re lucky. You’ve stumbled into a life that allows you do all of that - and, to be completely frank - any work that you’ve put into constructing it for yourself pales in comparison to the fact that you fell ass-backwards into good fortune.
Government is not the answer, and politics certainly isn’t.
Where ya’ll been for the last 20 years?
A $15,000 car in 1953 would be a Ferrari. Average cars then cost $2500.
100% - I’m so sick and tired of libertarian ass-hats acting like regulation is somehow a horrible thing. Particularly in relation to businesses. If there’s on thing that the history of capitalism has shown - it’s that profit trumps absolutely everything in the free market - worker safety, environmental safety, public…
You want regulations.
Yeah, this is grim news for me. I can’t buy cheap cars. It’s not that I don’t like them, or feel I deserve something better than the baseline. My body is compromised. I need a very good seat and good ergonomics or I will drive in pain every day. Cheap cars have terrible seats.
It’s almost like wages haven’t kept up with inflation since the 1970s. Heck, cost of living has gone up 20% since the last time min wage was increased. The price of cars should *feel* the same as always, but thanks to our oligarch government, we’ll be buying used for awhile.
The minute you try to regulate, restrict, and dictate the responsibility and morality of otherwise legal activities, like business, and social interaction, you’ve already lost.
That’s a whole lot of words to say a whole lot of smug nothing.
I think what he was mocking are those people who espouse that tidbit of “wIsEdOm” with the notion that those that do buy new are rubes/idiots and just throwing their money away. So in that regard, no, those people should not be allowed to hold or share that opinion because it’s plane stupid.
Same with all these dipshit republicans bitching that unemployment is paying too much. Well, maybe wages should be higher? But then, how could the CEOs afford their fourth vacation home?
The solution to that will just be ever longer finance and lease terms. The goal of corporate America is basically to make sure every single thing you “own” is actually a monthly subscription.
Yesteryear’s new cars are so goddamn good in 2020 that automakers cannot hope to compete with them while maintaining the margins to which they have become accustomed to.
Average price of cars going up, while sales figures over all go WAY down...
Nope, F-150.
When I was shopping for my truck, it was a $3k difference between a one year used truck with 15k, or a brand new one. It literally wasn’t worth it to buy used.
Here come all the “never buy new, only buy used’ comments. It is like people think buying a new car is worse than killing your own children with your bare hands. Cheap new cars can be better than expensive used cars for SOME people.
