And it got so close to being made too... A modern Porsche 914 in a way. And I loved the idea of a small sportscar designed from the get-go as a diesel.

1988 Peugeot Oxia. 680hp biturbo V6 supercar. Fully functional and did 349kph (217mph) on a test track. They made two, Peugeot still has one and the other was sold to an American collector in 2009, apparently. So I guess it did have kind of an extremely limited, 20-years late production run. I know Peugeot never

I love that Aston’s sorta-Kammtail. DB6, right? If I remember correctly it caused a stir among Aston devotees at the time for having such a tastelessly “modern” rear-end.

Yummy!

Flaminia Zagato?

I’ve always said it, Alfas look best in blue.

I’ve read rumours that there is some connection between this and the also rumoured Alpine SUV. Wait and see.

This is probably the reason why the Tesla Model S has been destroyed in consumer reviews, and why sales never took off.

Which is a very common thing to hear in internet automotive circles. Also known as the “you could have bought X Mustangs for that” fallacy.

Oh wow. Yes please.

It’s kind of treading the same path as the Citroën DS4 did a few years ago.

Oh come on, you’re pulling my leg. The Macan has a very different shoulder line, a clamshell hood, a much rounder glasshouse, a higher beltline, lower ride height and overall the surfaces are very smooth, whereas the Tiguan is all edges. I guess they both have a very raked windscreen, similarly sized front and rear

How could it? The Porsche design language is all curves, VW’s is all angles. Have you seen the Macan?

I agree that the second one is weird enough to be interesting. The first one is pretty inoffensive though.

There will be a GTE plug-in hybrid.

Porsche doesn’t have any models based on the MQB platform. It does have an Audi air about it, but frankly that’s because German designers aren’t the most imaginative bunch, not because it shares a platform with some Audi models.

It seems that, for the first time in decades, VW has made a polarizing design. Wether or not it’s good-looking is irrelevant: it’s a VW, and it’s not boring! Rejoice, good people of Earth!

This one is not literally a knock-off. It’s derivative and uninspired and brings to mind many other SUVs, but it’s not a blatant copy of the Q5 or the X5 or any other model.

Audi Q5 glasshouse, BMW headlights, Buick grille, Renault badge, Cayenne rear. Good job China!

Tuned to sound a particular way? Oh noes! When has that ever happened before?
