@roughneck117: Well, you die a lot at first. You will go through a phase where you think it is entirely about luck; you will spend some time complaining about "bad hit registry"; you will at one point be thoroughly convinced that everyone around you is hacking. But odds are you will keep playing anyway.

I bet Warren Spector could get away with chainsaws.

@sedimin: I think they were just looking for a quick way to test the pegs; I imagine they could put something more sophisticated on there if they wanted.

@Kolian: Er, that top one is supposed to say DVI...

Hardware industry: Okay guys, we're all switching to this new standard called HDMI. It will allow us to support both analog and digital signal at very high resolutions and framerates, and best of all we can use it for monitors, TVs, laptops, and anything else with a screen in it! Or if you just want digital

@HowIsYourFlat: Wasn't that just the webcam's shitty autocontrast?

How nice of the Disney Corporation to say that.

@Nexus6: You could almost count DX3 as a new game; even if it is technically a sequel, it isn't as if Deus Ex has ever been a "franchise" in any capacity.

@Ryushi: Hopkins: "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti".

@Holly: I'm not sure the presence of booth babes makes any comment at all towards the objectification of women. At some point you have to separate the selling of sex from the degradation of the female gender as a whole.

@Jandau: I'm pretty sure they could just mirror the model and everything would be fine; it isn't as if Link has any major asymmetry going on with his character design.

The dominance of violent games in the industry is more than a little ridiculous. It would be nice if publishers were more willing to take risks on unproven design patterns that don't always revolve around murder (but are still for core gamers), but that simply isn't where the money is right now.

Successful candidates will possess the following workplace skills:

Everyone gets a 360!

@Lockgar: You can also get raped in Fallout 2, and you have to in FMV adventure game Phantasmagoria (and you are a woman in the latter game).

@jayunreal: English courses are more or less what you would expect. If you enjoy reading books and talking/writing about them English is a good choice; if you hate doing close reading and writing papers, not so much.

@Maveritchell: Free Sound Project has saved my ass many a time in university.
