That's fair enough. I agree, and you're right about that. Even though I'm not totally sold on what he's done, perpetuating the notion doesn't help. In hindsight, I could and should have chosen a more substantial counter example for Fish instead of Notch, and I'll keep that in mind next time.

Really? Did not know that. I'm surprised Nintendo would do that. Maybe keeping it compatible required more effort and/or hardware than I thought. I guess the GameCube ports would do it. Did Nintendo remove those?

Nintendo did the same with the original DS, including the GBA slot which it removed from the DSi and later revisions. GameBoy units typically were backwards compatible with the last generation, then support dropped over time.

Seems like every indie developer, from Notch to McMillen to Blow to Fish and beyond, are more than capable of coming across as jerks to varying degrees. Success seems to do that, though perhaps that's only because the increased exposure to their personalities just highlight the kinds of people they have always been.
