I am personally very open about my son’s autism because I’m proud of everything about him. If the rumours are true, I sincerely hope they are keeping their child’s condition confidential to protect him and not from any sense of shame.

My son has chronic mental illness, and we get that shit all the time. Relatives and friends sending us articles about chelation therapy, leaky gut, food coloring... you name it. And we have the same policy: evidence-based, or we’re not trying it. Because you can drive yourself crazy and bankrupt yourself if you try…
