Yeah, well. The world used to be powered by burning wood, almost in human memory.

"Such a reversal could wreak havoc on human society"

WOW. Bad, bad science.

I don't know... It just seems like such a terrible idea. I can't help but think it will combine the worst of both worlds.

"Let's face it, we're all deeply infatuated with gigantic robots"

I only vaguely remember this from when I read it long ago, but the memories that remain are fond ones.

Maybe, maybe not.

It's almost certainly only going to get hotter.

Individual Liberty and plausible limits on government power ended a couple weeks ago guys. There isn't any point in caring any more.

While I agree that it shouldn't be the government's job to protect you from yourself, that is no longer true in the US. Individual liberty and limits on government power are basically dead here, since last week.

This IS awesome!

Used to be considered normal, if undesirable.

Just makes me sad and depressed, like lots of things lately. Seems like if any of them payed any attention to the news, they'd at least have a hint about it. Is that really too much to ask?

In all fairness, citizens are fined all the time.

It's nice that someone noticed they are scumbags, but the three billion (while a ridiculous sum to, well, people) is kinda pocket change for GSK.

It might mean an explosion of those species' populations for a little while, until their predator species populations also grow to fill the niche left by the bats. It's vanishingly rare for there to be only one predator species. In this case, it's likely that other, extremely similar species of bats will take over.

They only seem to be on an alien world for a very short time.

They are doing it for the exact same reasons we did it; primarily prestige.

Well, that's the way nature works - it's just a series of interlocking mechanisms, there's no pity there whatsoever. Doesn't really matter whether Humanity or some fungus is the agent of extinction, it's all the same, it's all nature. Sure, I like bats, but oh, well.

They're probably only about as smart as dogs, sooo... I'm thinking "no".
