Buy a German car. I can plug in a scanner, diagnose the issue, order and install the new part and it won’t work. Why? Because you need to have vagcom or star service or bmwicon to code the part. You can buy hacked software (like the farmers can) but it’s technically illegal. 

The problem is coded replacement parts. You can’t change any module on a German car without the ability to code it to the system.
