You don't have to imagine, you can watch it in the videos in the article. I had to watch the slug one twice before I realized what I was looking at.

I think she meant New England, not New York.
10/16. I missed NYC, which I felt stupid about immediately after clicking the wrong answer. It's kind of cool how distinct the desert cities are, because the surrounding areas are pitch black.
Yes, I agree completely. Mark's obsession with World War II and his need to contextualize all his personal social and professional drama in WWII terms is perfect and hilarious.
Umm, I'm from Minnesota as well and I'm pretty sure there was quite a bit of media coverage in 2010/2011 when we had a gazillion inches of snowfall that winter. Also, 12 inches of snow IS a big deal, even in MN.
I'm very meticulous about time and people ALWAYS underestimate the time it takes to do something. Drives me nuts. And people don't even usually get the drive time estimate correct, either (probably for the reason stated in the article), which just makes things worse.
You don't know how to read, do you?
I love the opening sequence to this show. I can't believe you're the only person to have posted it so far.
Did anyone notice that Katherine says "and so.. I may have called Rebekah" right before Caroline shows up to help Stefan with his PTSD? Was that intentional? I don't think it was! I think the producers just fucked up.
I'm a big fan of all the female characters on Nikita. It's too bad the show is ending soon, because it's got multiple great female characters (Nikita, Alex and the frustratingly evil Amanda). And, unlike some shows (Alias), the women don't have to sneak into sexy bikini parties every episode. They solve all their…
Ambient occlusion is not magic, and it is possible even on ps3/360/wiiu. Tessellation is a major component of any modern GPU and the PS4 and XBOne are certainly capable of it. Even the WiiU has a tessellation unit.
I thought the same thing! Silas is very comfortable making timely topical jokes for someone who's been trapped in a cave for two thousand years.
The 3DS has programmable vertex shaders, but fixed function pixel shaders. Having programmable pixel shaders is far more important than programmable vertex shaders, so the jump from Wii graphics to 3Ds graphics isn't nearly as large as you think it is.
In the 1950s the Republican party was the progressive party, and the Democrats were conservative. Calling the Republican party of the 1950s "right-wing" is massively incorrect. Eisenhower (a Republican) was an avowed progressive. There's even a quote on his Wikipedia page: "I have just one purpose ... and that is to…
I would be sad to see comments go on a site like io9, but on PopSci? PopSci barely has any commenters to begin with, and what few commenters they do have are, at best, on par with your average YouTube commenter in terms of nuance and civility. It's very infrequent that a PopSci commenter ever actually contributes…
I have a similarly long commute, and I play that exact same game every now and then! I've only made it the whole distance one time, and I felt like a god.
I agree with you, except for the part about the tracks. Tracks would likely be heavily subsidized by the government and there would almost certainly be legislation requiring train companies to permit others to use their tracks for a fair market price or something. This is true with regards to the massive backbone…
Where are all the Coca-Cola signs?
I used to make fun of people who refused to watch trailers because they didn't want to "spoil" the movie, but I recently (embarrassingly) actually SHUT MY EYES during the Superman trailer before Into Darkness because I didn't want to see all the cool stuff in the movie until, you know, I was actually at that movie. So…
The forces that would crumple the hypothetical death star are the gravitational forces the object exerts on itself. Whether it's in space or on earth is irrelevant.
