I think from April 2nd to 8th they went from predicting 93,000 fatalities to 60,000. Similar with expectation for hospitalized patients and ICU beds in NY. Rise in new cases seems to have slowed significantly in the US.

I feel terrible for people in the position where they have to choose risking their lives and others lives simply to make money for the all important ‘shareholders’ just so they can feed their families.

This is one thing that makes comparing statistics across nations more difficult. Countries report exactly this differently according to all kinds of different parameters.
