And I’m always here to post an awkwardly confrontational comment about how irrelevant everything is.

Meh, the total inevitably of British ruin without Brussels seems a lot like Paul Krugmen’s “low growth is the new norm, we’ll never see 4% again and that’s fine, it works perfectly well for Europe” stuff of not so long ago.
What I like most about the wonderful thread you kicked off is total conviction of all the replies from people mocking the total conviction of anyone who disagrees with them. Their conviction is better than anyone else’s conviction and that is obvious and definitely not hypocritical or ironic.
I don’t think “bad press” is the only thing commissioner Jordan doesn’t understand about F1.
This is the best part of a new season. What innovative thing did someone discover in the off season, how vociferously will the other teams hound the FIA over it, and will it prevail...
Sure, but “to a degree” does a lot of the heavy lifting here.
That’s a bit of the “slapping a badge on it” I’d already alluded to with Aston. You can call it a Cadillac if you’d like but I don’t think anyone looks at the Wayne Taylor Racing outfit and connects it with the Cadillac the way GM wishes we would.
Don’t forget that the actual sponsor is the bad guy for discontinuing said sponsorship, not a hero for backing them their first year when what I can only assume were the preferred sponsors didn’t exist.
Color me skeptical the stands will be full of fans cheering wildly for “independent team X running a Dallara chassis” running Le Mans slower in 2022 than 2018. Something I don’t think slapping an Aston badge the front will change. What the ACO/FIA seem to understand, and what seems to be egregiously discounted or…

Hmm
Wait wait wait, so you’re saying all our foreign policy successes can trace back to the old livery for the plane the President uses but none of our failures should be, except now/when its changed?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?
All of which is to say eliminating a lane from it won’t change the fundamentals of the matter, which is that it will remain gridlocked, but with the upside being that perhaps people will consider that gridlock and resort to alternate forms of transportation, and lessen the burden on New York City’s streets.
Meh, I don’t see it. Half the races are red flagged at some point because of a royal cluster of stupidity at some hairpin. Its comprised, as 93Miata touched on, of drivers who all know how to race (as their previous experience attests to) but now find themselves on the tail end of their career (or driver’s who thought…
I think they’re facing challenging situations but I don’t think they’re all that new or insurmountable, and I don’t think the bandaid you describe is super quick or workable.
Ah, thanks for explaining averages.
Also Jalopnik: “Damn anyone telling me which cars are acceptable and which are not!”
It’s 2020, “feel” is all that matters
This thread is a doozy.
“BIG! ...if true” seems like exactly the sort of thing that shouldn’t be pushed right now...
“But that doesn’t mean the show’s ingredients necessarily affect its final flavor...”
