@Kilotwat: Oops wrong thread. But Team Lisa! Maggie's attempts at being a prodigy (playing Tchaikovsky, painting Van Gogh) are all utterly derivative. She should stick to napping. Hmmph!

@Skinny lips, killer lashes: Download µtorrent (Windows) or Transmission (Mac) and install. Then download this .torrent file of the latest simpsons episode. Then run the app you just downloaded, and open the .torrent file. Press start and watch that shit go. Watch the resulting .avi file on your favorite media player.

@pumpkinseed: Or bit torrent that shit and watch it without pesky ads and geographical restrictions.

On the bright side, if the payment is contingent on them actually doing any work like DNA testing, the bill won't be due for years.

@rhymenoceros: As spokesperson for the "rest of America (we're a newly formed entity christened by rhymenoceros half an hour ago)", no, our opinion of you guys haven't changed. We just realize a few of your state judges actually decided to follow the law, while the rest of the people in the state can't do much about

It took California a few months to ban gay marriage. Let's wait at least that long for Iowa before we start idealizing the state as some sort of libertarian farmer's paradise.

If the amendment process was as easy and out-of-whack in Iowa as it is in California, it's entirely likely that Iowa would ban gay marriage just like Cali did. So it's not that Iowa is necessarily more tolerant than California (in fact, going by the poll you mentioned, the percentage against gay marriage is a lot

I find the article more interesting for the parts on how Michelle Obama is interested and even involved in policy and legislation, but chooses not to discuss any of those activities with the media, preferring to focus on other things. Maybe make a new entry on Jez about it, eh, editors, and squeeze one more out of the

One can learn field survival skills without undergoing simulated torture. Those of us who object to SERE are concerned with the Martial De Sade bits, not so much the boy scout stuff.

I question the value of SERE training in its stated goals. As we've established over and over in the sane part of teh world outside of 24, torture doesn't derive useful information, only false confessions. So with or without the supposed torture resistance that SERE builds, captured troops under torture aren't likely

@DramaClub: Actually, your positing of your husband being shot down, captured and then tortured and then somehow benefiting from his SERE training is the theoretical part here. The articles linked above refer to real cases of people who've been through SERE and were traumatized by it. If your husband went through SERE

Is the fact that she teaches Sunday School that important? Did she somehow find a way to do it 7 days of the week? Is that somehow connected to the alleged murder? Will the media stop sensationalizing the tragedy by highlighting an irrelevant detail? [insert string of no's]

The tailoring on Michelle's jacket is so sharp it could cut diamonds. I am in awe.

Yeesh what happened to post previews?

I once read a list of characters that should never be slashed together-Yoda/Chewbacca for example, and I thought, "nonsense, I'd love to see any of those slashed! No pairing should ever be off limits!" With her attempt to slash Obama with Limbaugh, Megan has proved me wrong. :-(

And why is it a de facto presumption that teenagers fucking is a bad thing? Why are things like STDs and teen pregnancy automatically brought up? Sex can be harmless fun, and most of the time, it is.

@Kilotwat: I should point out that even Jamal got brutally tortured by the Indian police, and went through plenty of shit (literal and otherwise) in his life.

Jamal may have had a happy ending in Slumdog Millionaire, but how many of the other slumdogs in the film did? I won't spoil more of the film, but it's pretty clear in the context of the film that Jamal was the exception.
