I live near a UT (Pratt & Whitney/Sikorsky) manufacturing/testing facility, you can hear the deep groan of jet engines for 10 miles at night, and they test for hours. This facility is surrounded by wooded areas which helps diffuse the sound, I couldn't imagine how loud this would be up close.

@crxtra: I agree, I live in a Right-to-Work state, which means you don't ever have to join a union if you don't want to. I think this law should be federal.
