Yeah, it's been in the news since it happened. I really doubt Pope Francis knew who he was at the time. I also really doubt that he deliberately used the opportunity to bless this parrot as a vehicle for communicating liberal ideas about stripping or erotic films. I think most likely he (or his handlers) saw a guy

Oh, I don't think that at all. It's not like they can come out with a statement that Pope Francis regrets blessing a parrot — they'd look like idiots. Plus, during every pope's weekly, general audience he winds up blessing lots of people and things when he's asked to do so. It's not possible to vet them all

That is 100% true. It's also 100% true that slave labor was involved in building the United States. Many, many more people reap the benefits of past slave labor than just those who are also the living descendants of slave owners.

Pope Blesses Parrot During General Audience: Has No Idea Who it Belongs To

How do you guys decide which celebrity you are going to complain about multiple times a day? I mean, I could not really care less about any of them. But it does seem like you pick someone out and highlight every little thing that person does for some arbitrary amount of time and then move on to another famous

I agree. Most of them are not cruel. They are just regular people.

I totally agree. Babies and toddlers are not cruel. Middle-schoolers and high-schoolers on the other hand? Some of them can be pretty awful. But some of them can be very noble and the majority of them are decent human beings.

I don't know. I work with kids every day and they can be incredibly cruel, too. They're just people. Some of them are nice and some of them are jerks.

The title of her blog post for these pictures is "Never Lose the Kid." My advice? If your version of being a kid means you are completely insensitive to other people's pain then you should really try to lose "the kid" as quickly as possible.

Yes, you have to have a reason like adultery or one of the spouses committed a felony or is "habitually drunk." Living apart for 18 months or more will also work, apparently.

Agreed, but I noticed these two fellows are from Arkansas and that's not a no-fault divorce state. You have to have grounds there. Maybe that's what made them thins of this?

Oh, I know the Queen doesn't own Windsor Castle or Buckingham Palace in the way I own my house or anything even close to that. I was just sort of trying to answer the question about the Middletons by putting their particular pile of cash into perspective next to the other piles of cash.

The Middletons are said to be worth around 30-50 million pounds. Diana's family, on the other hand, is worth somewhere around twice that much. The queen is said to be worth 500 million pounds, but (much like most of what the Vatican owns) it's not like she can just up and sell most of it.

Yeah, okay I don't even particularly like Madonna and here I am in the weird position of defending her. Dislike her and her music and her public personality all you want, but you don't get to tell someone how to mourn their own mother.

Especially since it's probably a fair bet that cops escort celebrities from airports (including ones near Miami) all the time and don't get suspended without pay for not going through the appropriate channels first. The only thing different about this case is that after these cops escorted Just Bieber he got

If you feel that you are mature enough to get married than you should also be mature enough to realize that the cost of your wedding is totally within your control.

I understand. However, with all due respect, (and I do not mean that in any snarky way), you did write that you grew up in a very liberal Protestant denomination. It's hard to explain the cultural hold Catholicism can have to someone who has not grown up as a Catholic. I'll give it a try!

The term for Jesus' conception is "virgin birth." "Immaculate" in the phrase "Immaculate Conception" means perfectly clean and without stain. Sex between married people isn't sinful according to Church teaching so there would be no need to term Mary's conception "clean."

Yeah, that's why I won't jump to the conclusion that the baby was conceived with an old boyfriend after she "gave into temptation" as her Mother Superior and a local parish priest have been quoted as saying.

It makes perfect sense to me. The hierarchy isn't shifting one bit. The Church does, indeed, do some pretty terrible stuff. But some of its workers in the field do some pretty awesome stuff. Like most big things in life it isn't easily translated into two camps — The Good Guys vs. The Bad Guys.
