That’s exactly my point. TeX doesn’t care whether you put one or two or seven spaces in the input file after a period. It determines that you’ve finished a sentence and puts in the proper spacing for the end of a sentence. It’s done that all along and I don’t see why Word can’t do the same.

When I was a youngun’ we used two spaces because kerning/spacing/whatever wasn’t advanced enough and you needed to separate sentences a little more. Then I started using TeX (in the 80's). It didn’t give two s**ts how many spaces you used. It recognized the end of a sentence and adjusted the spacing accordingly. It

Wow. This seemed like one of those urban legends so I googled. That guy’s a treat. And to think I disliked them just because of the overpriced yoga lifestyle thing. There’s a whole nother level to my disdain now.

Take your dusty JD (which I kinda doubt given how long it took for you to bring it up) and reply to lerockymay!’s comment. See how you do with that.

The courts have repeatedly determined that students and schools can be treated differently from society at large. For example, students don’t have rights against otherwise unconstitutional searches while at school. This exactly falls under the “fire in a crowded theater” example - the need to provide a safe

If you didn’t want it to distract from the point, a simple mention in the story that maybe Seth was being a bit unprepared for a road trip would have gone a long way toward focusing the discussion. Instead you’re taking time in the comments to argue.

THIS is the comment this article needs. A simple secondary mea culpa would have done wonders. Like - “Yeah, maybe Seth should have had another credit card in his pocket, but still...”

While you’re holding your nose don’t forget to stomp your foot and make a pouty face.

Enough about Madoona. How about Jennifer Stone, RN? The best thing to EVER come out of a Disney Channel kids show IMHO.

Part and parcel of lists like this, beyond agreeing and disagreeing, is the “helpful” responses on how you’re not doing the things on the list correctly, and how if you did it the right way you’d change your mind. See below for numerous examples Re:coffee.

Just this quick read and thinking about that hug again has me tearing up. That hug was everything.

The problem is that they’re starting their trip from the worst coronavirus epicenter in the US. They’re a long distance disease vector likely coming into contact with people on the front lines of keeping those who ARE staying home supplied with necessities. Imagine being the one working at the grocery store in Missouri

Pay attention, this is important.

Thanks for pointing out that the original article used the term ventilator. I was a bit confused by some of the comments talking about this as a ventilator. You’re absolutely right, all of these sites need to include a note when they correct something like this.

You hit the nail on the head Stephen! That is some high level pedantry right there. I’m sure this was the engineering design that was sent to the shop floor and now everyone is confused.

Was going to take a quick look, mostly to see what “red carpet debut” meant.

Well they can’t just put all the girls in black leggings. That would just be boring.
