I personally really liked Mafia 2. It was a bit buggy and lazy in places but I never got sick of playing it. I think it was well paced, a decent story and had some interesting elements to it. It wasn't a great sandbox game but it really wasn't meant to be.

It's well worth it. The Stolen Memory DLC is short but Kasumi is a fun character to have around and it adds the best SMG in the game.
