The HMS Wager was a semi-similar story that was really fascinating. It’s told in a really accessible and fascinating way in The Wager by David Grann, which I believe will be Scorsese’s next film adaptation.

It’s... open air? It’d be like trying to air condition outside? Who on Earth would expect subway stops to be air conditioned? And, there are 450+ subway stations in NYC... of course it would cost truckloads of money to install AC in them and cool them all. What a weird article.

But does this really mimic the experience of a motorcycle? I’ve driven a Polaris. I found the experience very bizarre and not that enjoyable. I felt pretty close to how the author found it, right on down to how bad the manual transmission was. I don’t have a ton of experience on motorcycles, mostly dirtbikes and a

There’s just one thing I can think of that appeals to buyers of these things - people too scared to get a motorcycle. So, they buy a motorcycle with training wheels that gives you 3/4 the risk at 1/10 the reward. I just don’t get them. Especially the upmarket ones. $35k?? Insane.

This is a hilarious idea and I love it. (Apple running an F1 team, that is. Not this trainwreck of a movie that will lose $500 million).

*Sarah McLachlan song plays* For just one quarter, every day, and you can watch millionaires drive in circles in parades on Tv.

That’s fascinating about the NFL. I guess its such a monolith you can’t really argue with it. Wild.

Yeah, it’s easy for me to justify it. It’s so much easier than trying to torrent/stream it from somewhere and so much cheaper than a cable package that has it. Eight dollars a month is probably what I lose out of my pockets in change. I can’t really come up with any subscription that I spend that little on that I

Hey, I’m older than you! Haha. 41, and I’ve fully cut all “cable” services for years.

I got a good laugh out of this. Thanks.

No idea how NFL cable works anymore. Stopped watching years ago and haven’t really looked back. This last Super Bowl was the first one I watched in a long time and I couldn’t figure out what was going on with the lack of kick returns before someone told me they changed the rule on it. Looks like NFL is spread all over

I mean... is $85 a year really that much? There’s 23 races, so it’s less than $4 a race and you get access to all sessions and all support races. Watching the F2 races has been really interesting this year because at least a couple of the drivers are moving to F1 in the next year or two and it’s cool to watch them

I’d be NP at $7,500. This shouldn’t be a $10k car. And it’s one p0141 CEL away from becoming an uninspectable nightmare.

The idea of “put the work in and you can be rich, too” is pretty rarely true. Sure, there are some self made rich folk. Of course. But the vast, vast majority of everyone making top 5% money - and likely even top 10% - got there by generational wealth or opportunity and connection that other people do not have. I’m an

Hell yeah I’m 18!

God I wish I was so rich in time and money that my only apparent concern was getting my stupid shiny truck to work.

What options put a Model 3 up to $70K?

I wish I bought a TourX when they first announced they were ending production. Now there’s a TourX tax and ones with low miles, and it seems like the prices haven’t come down since I looked two years ago. Just have more miles. And are... two years older. Shame.

Yes. Sure, of course. But how many 81 year old presidents were groomed for a second term? Other than Biden, I’m not sure anyone was older than that. At least not modern... Reagan was 77, and his second term was a disaster because he very likely had Alzheimer’s.

Only a sith deals in absolutes.
