I inadvertently ended up with a Duster on my last European road trip in 2018. Last gen obviously. Was a great car for our trip from Switzerland to France to Austria and back to Switzerland. Made me wish you could get one here. This looks great.

Never mind that using Tesla cars inside the tunnel as some revolutionary idea was just about equally idiotic. Just buy some Kawasaki R211 subway trains, slap a Tesla logo on there, and call it a day.

And that’s what makes it so difficult to implement something like this in a meaningful way. Just like how cops largely ignore the individual going 70 in a 55 when they are with 300 other cars, the immobilizer system also has to be able to do that. So that means it has to “talk” with the other cars on the road to

I can’t imagine why tunnel engineers would be more conservative. Seems like an industry rife with opportunities for pushing the envelope for occupant safety.

Yes to the opposite direction thing. I feel like I pay more attention and am more engaged, and maybe toned down a bit but not all that different than 2019. And everyone else just turned the dial to 11. Maybe they’re all trying to make up lost time. I don’t know.

I was thinking the same thing (about the 12,000 deaths). Sure, “only” 12,000 people are killed in car accidents every year. But they have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, kids, etc. Just assume conservatively each person who died had four people absolutely devastated by the trauma of their death and that number

Interesting. And I know parental instincts have hit me in all kinds of unexpected ways, so that is definitely possible.

Famously bat shit! Lol.

Agreed. It has become acceptable to be entirely selfish in the way that you act in every place, time, and situation.

This is the same issue I have with it.

Maybe its just because I’m older now (41), or had a kid, or whatever else. But man it seems like the roads are more dangerous than they have ever been at any time of my 26 year driving career. Ever since the pandemic ended people are so much more aggressive behind the wheel. They drive so much faster and with zero

I couldn’t imagine enjoying Clarkson’s Farm when I heard about it. But man, did I enjoy it. And my wife loved it too. Certainly the cast of supporting characters that makes it, but it’s also enjoyable to see Clarkson so repeatedly humbled, which he probably hasn’t been in a very long time. I’m happy to see it

What’s nuts to me is that Ford won’t make the hybrid Maverick in 4wd given that more than half of Maverick sales were the hybrid version. But, they don’t make money on Mavericks. They make money on F150s. I don’t know, truck owners seem to be the most vocal bitchers about gas prices but they keep buying new trucks

I had the same thought a while back - how many people are really going to two (or more..) F1 races in a season? (At least outside Europe, where that seems a lot more doable because of proximity and they seem cheaper there). But, they must have insight into that, or at least think they do.

I think it’s the only way to account for the idiocy of it all. Which makes their efforts to be “green” even more laughable, because as DeWayneV8 said, it adds thousands of miles of additional travel and time in order to boost revenue, which is really all anyone cares about.

Toyota doesn’t seem to think it’s truck-buyers have any interest in increased mileage. The Tundra hybrid speaks to that. I think it gets like, 1 mpg improvement in real world driving.

My mom’s 96 Tacoma made it to 350,000 miles before someone crashed into it and totaled it in 2012, and it too had factory drum shoes still on it. Best truck out there, I miss that thing.

The schedule is so idiotic. But I think what it’s actually about (which isn’t widely discussed) is avoiding saturation in any single market to maximize income. Say, for example, that all the races in North America are held back to back - Montreal, Miami, Vegas, Texas, Mexico, Brazil - in a 10 week period of time. The

I suppose making it a 10 shot revolver or something was too complicated, but it would be a lot faster if it wasn’t a one-shot and reload kind of thing.

Lol. You know, that didn’t seem right....
