As a long-time advocate of buying 3(ish) year old vehicles and never buying new, I’ve been telling everyone who asks me for the last two years that buying used is a suckers game and that for the vast majority of cars you are better buying new at this point. Unless you are willing to compromise on certain things, you

Another thing that isn’t often mentioned is that the race is starting at 10:00 PM local time, meaning that on the east coast the race will start at 1:00 AM! Apparently this is so that European fans can watch the race in the morning. But... wasn’t this all about increasing American viewership of F1? Absurd.

Yeah, it’s been the checklist for long enough now that I have it pretty well memorized. Put it to partial use over the weekend picking up a ratty Miata that needed to be trailered. Lot of rules carry over!

Jesus, that interior is bleak. Like an Ikea catalog covered a small apartment in a floor to ceiling coat of vomit. Or a Swedish jail.

Unfortunately, I think the era of big-studio single-player titles is dead. It just leaves way, way too much money on the table.

My dad was a pilot when he was a young man and when flying was cheap and easy in the late 50s and early 60s. Then he was a pilot in Vietnam flying barely held-together OV-1 Mohawks on hundreds of shady reconnaissance flights. He instilled in me a healthy appreciation for good checklists, and how coming up with them

Interesting. I do think the bloody 100th took part in the Dresden bombing. But I’m not actually sure.

Since listening to Carlin’s podcast, which relied on several of the books heavily, I’ve read With the Old Breed and Helmet for My Pillow and a couple others. If anything, The Pacific held back...

It already looks like there’s too much going on here. I don’t quite understand how the Tuskegee Airmen fit into this, because I don’t think they ever flew with the 100th Bomb Group?

Man, I re-watched The Pacific after listening to Dan Carlin’s Supernova in the East because the podcast gave a lot more context to the show and I was interested in seeing it again. It is just brutal and on such a different level than Band of Brothers. I’m excited for this, and my assumption is that it will be more in

That’s.... probably bang on accurate. Ha.

I don’t fly a lot in terms of flying for work, but at least 5 or 6 flights a year. I’m still surprised at how people think standing in the aisle with their bags waiting to get off before they even get the doors open helps anything.

Oh man. It’s a weird confidence thing I guess? Preference? She knows how to do everything, because when we started a million years ago I said that she has to be able to operate and dock the boat in case something happens to me, and she can do everything. She’s probably better at it than I am. More cautious and with

That’s the pro move, right there.

Hopefully there wasn’t too much cursing or threats of divorce.

Somehow, across six different boats and trailers I never managed to make sealed trailer lights a priority. Ridiculous. I always said “I’ll get them when these break” but somehow they never did before I ended up trading up/down a boat.

Yup. And it’s easy to talk yourself into a bigger boat, which comes with even more work. Going to a 25 foot walk around cuddy fishing boat was a massive mistake which I still regret. Trailering it is a huge hassle. Launching/retrieving even more so. So then you pay to slip it. Which is expensive and comes with its own

Unfortunately, a lot of hard lessons were learned to get me to the checklist I now have. 20 years of launching boats will humble the best of us.

Lol, Thanks.
