Yes. I agree. A P-47 Thunderbolt is miles/years ahead of the Wright Flyer. But the P-47 is miles/years behind the F-15 Eagle. We are making great advances, but still we're many years away from eliminating the pilot. Many, many years...

Robotic combat is decades away. The difference between takeoff / landing / threat avoidance / bad weather management / targeting / etc. and actually fighting a nimble jet with a well trained and imaginative pilot is like night and day. Someday, maybe. Not anytime soon...
