Well it's already had two seasons, has been renewed for a third and it's been quite successful for Showcase, so now would be the time to check it out. ;) It's a lot of fun, honestly.

Saving the day through intelligence, speeches is pretty much de rigeur on Star Trek, though. Pretty much every other episode of the original show is Kirk talking his way to a solution (or talking a computer into exploding. Kirk was like a one man Windows 8.)
