Well it's already had two seasons, has been renewed for a third and it's been quite successful for Showcase, so now would be the time to check it out. ;) It's a lot of fun, honestly.

Saving the day through intelligence, speeches is pretty much de rigeur on Star Trek, though. Pretty much every other episode of the original show is Kirk talking his way to a solution (or talking a computer into exploding. Kirk was like a one man Windows 8.)

Aka Kiera Cameron, the morally dubious heroine of the really rather good series Continuum:

Why are you incoherent? Alright.

How would I like you to hold him responsible? Well, let's see, quoting from you, right now:

Death threats are never cool. Or acceptable.

Conan does often treat women with indifference or outright contempt, which more than once they have returned with affection. Conan is an adolescent power fantasy in many ways, and being a badass who treats women coldly and then they swoon over his intense masculinity is part of that (and presumably what Maxmordon

So the overwhelmingly vast majority of con goers are people who are angry at feminists.

Ah, now THERE we go. For a moment I thought you were arguing that somehow the vitriolic thing Dawkins said is somehow comparable to what Watson said, when actually you were excusing him entirely.

I actually misclicked and meant that as a reply to Craig Michael.

*hugs copy of Left Hand of Darkness, weeps slowly*

Nope. Although I am impressed with how impressively Dawkins defenders have tried to spin him being an asshole into everyone else being at fault for him being an asshole. The Dawkinites are certainly resourceful, I'll give them that.

Well, there you have it. Modern feminism makes procreation impossible. If only men were able to proposition women in ways they find uncomfortable and have their advances in empty elevators at 4 a.m. in the morning satisfied, our species may not die off.

I don't disagree with anything you said at all, but I'll admit the Star Trek nerd in me couldn't resist making two utterly worthless observations, which in no way challenge the actual substance of your post (racism, reflexive and otherwise, in sf/f is a thing).

Here's the thing, Wonderist.
