Agreed, still you get used to the graphics in no time as well though in my opinion.

I'm saying certain things that were it's selling point are now done infinitely better, not that games nowadays are better in every aspect. The 3D Graphics for an rpg were new and mindblowing for the time, which are obviously done much, much better in this day and age because of simple technical improvements. Spells,

I agree that you have to have the right approach to play retro games, but I don't agree that all good things get copied or done better later on. Some classics like Chrono Trigger and Suikoden 2 (to stay with jrpg's) were never outdone in the area's that made them great. Most of Final Fantasy VII strength's have been

Don't set yourself up for disappointment. A big part of why it's great is that a lot of the stuff back then hadn't been done before, things that are now done infinitely better. It is mostly nostalgia speaking when it comes to people wanting a remake. Not that anything is wrong with that. I'm one of those people btw :)

It's something that you don't notice when you actually play with that setup. Even with bezels I didn't notice them a few minutes in. Your eyes have that tendency to remove them from your vision.

Kotaku is running a 'shop contest for the "worst" Final Fantasy VII announcement. Have a look!

The world building is great as well. Almost every town you visit has a distinct history to it, even continents and area's you never visit get mentioned frequently.

It's a typical fanboy reaction that both platforms have too much of...

It's 2d, of course it holds up!

"No excuses. Time to play it. Have you started?"

You'll remain more motivated and level up more quickly if you join a guild (i.e. any fitness community of like-minded individuals) along the way. The guild that you choose is up to you. I joined Fitocracy and made friends there, because there were a lot of gamers like me looking to get fit.

I found Lamar to be even more hilarious than Trevor.

His nose became longer from lying too much

Memorization and reflexes are just the beginning. A chess like strategy is the big part after that. Too bad I never could get into Street Fighter cause of that first part either...

I guess that of course depends on your own take of meaningful, but again, if they did it your way itd be more like Naruto with a small cast and lots of filler. I personally prefer Oda's world building over that any day of the week. I'm also glad they don't 'recycle' already established comradery and instead focus on

Yea, I wasn't saying there aren't any exceptions such as yourself. Just that the vast majority does seem to still enjoy it. Not everyone is expecting the series to go a certain way, like more screentime for Zoro just because he's the first crewmate and thus has to fill the trope of being important on a consistent

Well put, I even forgot that one, it indeed became 'magic'. It used to be a major deal when that kid with Zabuza could even use one handed seals. Kakashi and Itachi having insane hand seal speed was also a thing that was only done by geniuses.

I was mostly referring to the last part. I don't think there's a lot of fans reading One Piece as a habit like they maybe do/did for Bleach and Naruto. It doesn't overstay it's welcome where people are just reading on, hoping to see the end already.

Back when it wasn't about power ups but more about utilizing unique skills and the basic deception skills of a ninja (transformation, body replacement and clone techniques).

Is One Piece just thrown in there cause it's one of the 'big three' and long running? It being a long running shounen series seems to be the only reason mentioning One Piece in these debates as if it's the same quality as Bleach and Naruto.
