The premise for the competition is interesting, but the rule set makes some assumptions that are possibly unattainable. “Spaceships that are able to sustain settlers for hundreds of thousands of generations” is not provably feasible at this point. If it is indeed impossible, that would be one reason we don’t see

1TB a month. Security system uses almost 30% of that right off the bat. Kids’ usage eats about 40% and I use 15-20% usually. We fall short each month, but not by much.

I’m between 800-900GB usage currently but we may go over with the kids being out of school for the summer. My security cameras alone utilize about 200-300GB per month.

The main roadblock for me would be the data cap on my Xfinity data plan. Between my kids streaming video most of the day and the home security system, I just don’t have enough data to go in on a game streaming option at even 1080p much less 4k.

You’re being a bit pedantic. The overall point is that if they wanted $1k for the stand, they should have bumped the total price and included it as they are comparing the package to other reference monitors which retail for much higher than $6k. If you don’t think it’s worth $6k then whatever, but comparing to the

That’s exactly my point?

Well, this is a tech blog. You’ll get more unofficial terminology that happens to be well known throughout the tech culture being referenced here than say a technical review page. I wouldn’t say that makes it less credible as Adam does not claim to be delivering cold hard facts.

I think the main issue is that Apple should know better than to package it separately. As mentioned in the article, had Apple included it with the display, there would be no uproar. The value is there (as a package), but as a standalone component, it does not bring anything to the table to justify that price.

Without giving specific examples, your credibility is less than zero. Do you have any credible data or sources that support your claim?

The good news is that you can add Linux for free or Windows Pro for $200. So that’s a non point.

That’s like, your opinion man.

I backed the kickstarter for these a couple years ago and even though they are not earbuds, they are actually really great for fitness audio (especially cycling as they don’t block noises that you need to hear for safety reasons).

While some would find it admirable to spend every waking hour at your place of work out of some sort of hard workers code of honor, (self employed or not) but I’m not one of them. If you have a family, they need you around. Much more than they need wealth, imo. If you’re single, then whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Your family may need higher standards for work places.

You can find sensationalists for any argument. It doesn’t make your argument any more valid. The science behind climate change is undeniable, but the exact effects are unknown to a certain extent. Greenhouse gases are already having a devastating effect to ecological systems around the world that you are choosing to

Democrats are not claiming to be experts on climate change. They don’t have to, because (get this) they actually listen to the climate experts!

Is that $450 per person or per roomette? If I was able to share one with my wife, it would suddenly be a lot more appealing.

It’s confusing because Oculus were the ones touting the need for 90hz refresh for optimal viewing. They did the research and that’s what they came up with. Now they push out less than that without any real explanation that would justify it.

Honest question: Usually competition is usually good for consumers, but it’s really seeming like this time, there isn’t an actual benefit for us and only a downside to their being more “exclusives”. Am I just missing something?

I won’t be a customer of this business because of our monopolistic ISP infrastructure. I have the speeds required, but I also have a data cap that simply will not allow me to game over a streaming medium.
