"We all know the manual transmission in a truck has no future… PROVE ME WRONG JALOPNIKS. PROVE ME WRONG!"

I love this idea (especially with the diesel) but how about the SUV version of this bad boy like they sell down under?

Looks like someone has done (most of) the work for me as far as average speed is concerned. check out the link below for some nice graphs. Looks like the leading cruiser class vehicles have been averaging 60-65 kph...not really very fast but nothing to sneeze at.

The really important number for solar cars is the "break even speed" where energy in from the sun = energy out to move the car down the road. At peak sunlight, the more aerodynamic single seaters break even at 60+mph. I'll try to find some data on this as well for the cruisers.

According to WSCTV episode 7, Team Eindhoven was clocked doing 120kph on Tuesday with 3 people on board...I'm trying to find a reliable timing board showing their elapsed time into the latest control stop to work out averages...

University of Michigan Solar Car Team alum here. My favorite entry in this year's race is Stella from Solar Team Eindhoven. 4 seats and an interior with an actual interior! Check her out here. I even spy an HVAC (though almost certainly without AC) vent in the interior shots.

Couldn't disagree more with Deals Gap being on this list. Sure you can hit traffic and lots of cops some times. Other times (like last Monday from 6-8pm) its basically empty. This was our fourth annual trip down to the dragon and that night we put together probably our best "laps" yet. We left one car at the end and

Nope. Its black and fully loaded. Sport, Premium, Cold Weather Packages, and the sunroof. Picked it up for $13k a little over a year ago with 66k miles on it.

I absolutely love my 2006 9-2X Aero 5MT!

My Porsche 964 worked well for us! Classic looks but comfortable enough to keep the bride from complaining.

Dude get a 964! I bought one 2 years ago and I absolutely love it. It's old enough to still have the classic 911 silhouette and air-cooled engine but new enough to have some modern amenities such as ABS, cruise control, a non-ludicrous HVAC system and power steering (though with a very light assist so the steering is

No experience yet but I want to test the theory. My buddy has an old Accord that he says he'll replace with a BRZ when it dies. I want to help it die but this theory makes me wary...

Poor curious cat. I have no similar cat stories but would like to be praised as awesome for, when given naming permission by my girlfriend 2 years ago, deciding to call our second cat turbo...because racecar.

EVERYWHERE!...that isn't a public road

Nice! I have a '92 C2 and am thankful for the love these guys showed the 964...usually seems hard to come by for this generation.

don't listen to the troll you guys...

Coupe. Because sex.

My first thought also included an NSX...but then I forgot about it. Perhaps downgrade the Porsche to a 964 generation turbo to save the 30-40 grand you'd need for an NSX in good shape...

Someone else answered a singer 911 and I love that idea. That said, I still think we can do better than just 1 car:

Sell off the interior and wheels and such and it looks like a fine Lemons racer to me!
