Now I've gotta know. I looked outside and there's no big line outside of my McDonald's right now (I live literally right across the street from a Japanese McDonald's). But it is 10:30pm. I'll take a peek out there tomorrow in the middle of the day. I do know I keep getting tons of Yokai Watch StreetPasses on my 3DS

KFC Japan needs to get with the program. I watch Hulu (US) via VPN. I see these $5 Fill Up boxes that look awesome. Why can't KFC Japan have 500 yen Fill Up boxes? KFC in the US always kinda messed with my stomach because of the grease they didn't change enough, but I really like KFC in Japan.

The Idolm@ster moved 360s too... until it jumped over to PS3.

Bashcraft, come back later with pics of the New 3DS launch lines. They'll be more interesting to look at. :P

Uh... what accent is that from the guy in the video? I have to concentrate to understand him.

Some games need zero understanding of language though. I started importing in the very early 2000s. During the DDR craze. DDR doesn't require Japanese knowledge. Neither do fighting games or racing games or other games like that.

It's kind of ironic if you think about it. Pre-NES, video games were actually considered "toys", both inside and outside of Japan. The NES is where video games started getting wider acceptance and began to be seen as something more than just a toy for kids.

That's the same reason we have regions on DVDs and BluRays. If you watch anime, this is actually the reason that Aniplex charges so much for their US BluRays (about the same as Japanese prices, which are REALLY high compared to US prices). Aniplex fears reverse importation since US and Japan are now on the same region

Most people who play other region games will do it through other methods. They'll use SwapMagic-type devices or pirating or something else. The people who actually go out of their way to buy more other region consoles just to import is small. Reason I know? I'm actually one of those crazy people who buys multiple

Why can't Nintendo learn that consumers are idiots and are easily confused? I see reviews on Amazon all the time from people who don't understand why 3DS games don't work on their DS Lite. If people can't understand that, they're not going to understand why the game marked as working "Only with the New Nintendo 3DS"

I think the ultimate problem is some people fear this is going to change gaming as a whole. It's not. Some game developers may try to do some things differently as a result. But I guarantee you there will still be Grand Theft Autos that let you beat up prostitutes, games that you have to save damsels in distress, etc.

It's not a gamer thing. It's an internet thing. The internet gives the vocal minority a platform to stand on to whine about whatever thing they don't like. I remember the vocal minority pre-commonly used internet days (ie before 2000, when the internet was around but lesser used compared to today). They were the type

It kinda boggles the mind that you see via the internet that some Japanese people have such exotic pets when there's so many places in Japan that you're not allowed to have ANY pets, to include basic stuff like a cat or a dog.

I agree with Jason. I actually had this game during the PS1 days. I loved the music and combat and characters. The story felt boring as hell because of the awkward text.

I had a co-worker who was an official Pokemon TCG gym leader for several years. He was a pretty awesome dude. He's a big board and card game nerd. It was thanks to him that I discovered the awesomeness of Munchkin.

Stuff like that is why sports anime is awesome! Normally I hate sports, but the fact that it's so ridiculous in anime is why I like it.

Some fanservice/ecchi anime is actually worth watching. This doesn't sound that way though. Too bad. You got me interested at first because of the fantasy setting. I've been in the mood for fantasy anime lately.

Those military cosplayers look like seaweed washed up on the beach.

Oh god, not the squeaky shoes. Too many little kids have the squeaky shoes in Japan (NOT these, regular shoes). We don't need adults having the squeaky shoes too. It drives me crazy. It's like some Japanese parents think they can't keep of their 5 year old unless they hear them squeaking.

You can definitely have a social life. After all, if an extremely introverted person like me can actually make friends, anyone can if they try. In fact, for one of them, I think she's the world's most extroverted Japanese person, so she can be a bit exhausting sometimes. But she's still fun to hang out with.
