Those people suck. Usually if I'm in a big group, one person pays and then we all transfer the money to the person at the table. But, this only works if you have trustworthy friends and not scammers who don't include tax, tip, etc.

I always tip on the post-tax amount, but! I was recently at a fancy pants dinner and the receipt had the 18% and 20% suggestions at the bottom and they were on the pre-tax amount! So, maybe I'll start doing pre-tax?

And I agree about the beaches! We rented a car in Izmir and drove down through the southwestern portion of Turkey.
