i agree - and the 10% ‘rule’ is more of a guideline - like tipping 18% min at a restaurant. with their normal caddies they usually have an agreement in place, as in x number of dollars in salary plus 8% if i make the cut, 9% if i finish top ten, and 10% if i win.
