Zod is a purist. He starts a coup on Krypton and one of the goals is to purge what he perceives to be shitty bloodlines. All he ever wanted to do was to protect and preserve Krypton and her culture and her people. Look at how personally offended he was by a natural birth.

The Donner cut is notable, but that's still not the original cut. The original cut doesn't tell you that part of the story so for movie goes it doesn't exist.

Superman v the Elite is a great work to show younger fans silver age values that don't exist as much today with most forms of sci fi entertainment like the Marvel films.

In this film its about more than just the sun. The sun gives them strength and amplifies their senses. But its the planet as well, the atmosphere on its own is more nourishing and less confining as well. That also serves to amplify the senses.

Yeah, you did see a different film and clearly have the attention span and refinement of a gnat.

Considering he's killed Zod twice well after it was standard for him not to kill, this doesn't "feel wrong" to people who follow the character. Blaming the fact that you don't understand the character or appreciate the non deus ex machina ending reflects more on you than on the writers.

See, the thing is people would still complain. Let's say they add a scene to the final fight where Superman tries to abandon a fight to stop a bunch of people from getting crushed by a bus or something. The logical result would be Zod crumbling three buildings killing exponentially more people.
