HDD does gets noisy but i never know if those dampers even help with the noise, as the clicking sound comes from seeking i feel those dampers will never work if sound actually comes from seeking.

If your phone is supported by MIUI there is a DND mode

Just go to Settings -> Applications and look for that app, select it and it should have that screen with how much storage is being used scroll down and clear defaults.
