Except every single example you listed (even Gone With The Wind to some degree, despite its length) omitted aspects of the books from which they were adapted.
I may be wrong about this, but I'm fairly certain that while the initial assault on Dol Guldor occurred during The Hobbit, it ended with Sauron being driven out and forced to take refuge in Mordor. It wasn't actually destroyed by Galadriel until just before or after the One Ring was cast into Mt. Doom.
