I agree. It's so easy to put yourself in his shoes, if you have kids. You know there isn't anything you wouldn't do to give them a better life or to protect them.
This is pointless, and, quite frankly, not worth my time. As I said before, think what you want. I could care less. Don't tell me what to think. Now buzz off.
I posted some links for you, but I have little hope that they will understand what we are trying to make plain for you.
Here are a couple of examples. Not that I think they will help. You're hell-bent on disproving a thesis that no one here has claimed to be true. No one has said "we live in 1984" or that "1984 is real". You are trying to make a 1:1 literal comparison between reality and a book that was written 65 years ago. Read up.

You are looking at this too literally. But whatever. Think what you want. Just don't tell me what to think.
Why would you put so much time and effort into such a ridiculous premise? WTH did I just watch?
Love this movie.
This. A thousands times, this.
We is a great book. I can't say which I liked better, but I find We's prose to be some of the most beautiful I've read in science fiction ever.
I find it almost unbelievable that we are still having this debate in this day and age. That people are still fighting to have their relationship recognized (or allowed) by the state is so incredibly fucking sad, but I think the tide is turning. I just wish it could happen faster. Next up, empty those prisons of all…
First of all, don't presume to tell me what to type and what not to type. If you don't think that intelligence agencies and police agencies' activities have had a cooling effect on people, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe we read different news sites.
I see your point, and understand where you're coming from (to the extent that I can as a man). People, in general, in this country like to tell each other what they can and cannot do with their lives, bodies, homes, etc. It's all unsettling to me.
What is this? And, is that a giant Costco in the background?
I can see why you would say that. But the religious right's (presuming that is what you are talking about—forgive me if I presume incorrectly) numbers are dwindling. They're just really loud. We are moving more and more towards a secular society, and I just don't see the kind of religious fervor in a large enough…
Well, I didn't say half. But I would maybe not be so literal about it. I do see your point, though. My ass would have been carted away by the Thought Police long ago.
Is this The Rover?
1984. Probably because I think that lots of Orwell's predictions have come true, and most of them elude most people who are busy going about their daily lives to pay attention or muster the energy to object.
I read the book in a single sitting, and think it is amazing. But you are 100% right, and this was the first thing that I thought of.
