The guy is unhealthily overweight. With his money and resources, he has no excuse not to take better care of himself. Dedicated fans got him to where he is, and I understand that this shit can get old, but he has some responsibility to the people that read his books and contribute to his success.

Aw, poor wittle ultra-successful author is mad at his fans because they want to buy more of his books. There are plenty of struggling writers (and better writers to boot) in the world who would love to have his problem.

"I believe they did DNA testing on some of the mummies and found that they were descended from west Asiatic peoples."

I'm beginning to see that this is a very contentious subject.

The trailer actually looks pretty decent. I was surprised.

I believe you, but do you recommend a site to read up on this stuff?

Gotcha. You know, I never really gave it much thought. Modern Egyptians are multi-ethnic (I think?), and all of the ancient Egyptian art that I have ever seen seems to point to multi-ethnicity too.

I can't remember much about that movie, but I remember that I didn't hate it. Couldn't get through the other medieval flick though, the one about the crusades?

"how is it that we are not past the point at which we're Anglifying Ancient Egypt in major motion pictures?"

It's pretty damned awful.

Were ancient Egyptians black? I'm not being a smart ass. Promise.

Saw him a few months back (friend of a friend). My wife maintains he is as handsome as ever. Short. But handsome and charming. :P

Is that Joel Edgerton??

Bingo!

"Though I do envy them their serenity and confidence."

LOL!

I fall in the camp that's for limited, fiscally responsible government (a Unicorn, no doubt), and I cannot wait for the day when the Christian right/neo-cons fade into the twilight. The GOP, at least as far as I can tell—I'm not a political analyst, so I might be talking out of one of my other orifices—is all but done

Especially near campus where a-hole peds have a nasty habit of walking through busy intersections while diddling their smartphones, completely unaware that the "DON'T WALK" light is flashing.

I'm torn on these kinds of deals. I love biking around my town, and it would be nice to do it without risk of getting flattened by a monster diesel truck. But I also realize that bicycle commuting just isn't a viable option for working professionals in this climate because it's just too damn hot here most of the time.

Dang! Point taken! Thanks for the input, Guano.
