I’ve never actually heard the song in real life — my sole reason for knowing the song exists is Patton Oswalt’s sketch about it.

I think it’s telling how seriously the “awards show” aspect is taken when you’ve got plenty of celebrity appearances hocking their upcoming projects/products for minutes at a time, while the folks winning the awards are quickly ushered off stage.

Because it’s reasonable to want a suite of new skins. Plus, as a general rule, when people buy something, they prefer to own every option available to them.

10 years ago it would have been $2. And it’s still a full priced game with multiple tiers of “deluxe edition” and with peer to peer matchmaking, so they can’t even use “but the server costs!!” as an excuse.

This is one of the many reasons I’ve started collecting blu-rays and 4k discs in 2023. 

One of my most favorite games from this year but I can’t recommend it to anyone because of how predatory the monetization is. The grinding for drive tickets alone so I can have different colors for my main is absurd. It should not take weeks to earn enough just for some palette swaps let alone pay more than the base…
