Well, I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I dislike private servers for games like this, and feel that they do harm to the overall franchise. I have absolutely zero issue with Blizzard shutting this down, and I feel the ones running it shouldn’t have released the source code.

Well said. As a group of fans who pride ourselves on our dedication to pursuing the entertainment of ideas, we seem to get scared off pretty easily by new ones.

I’m unnerved by modern nerddom’s preoccupation with the concept of canon. It’s an ill-fitting idea to try and weld onto fictional material. Given that all the materials continue to exist for free consumption, trying to wrangle the plot points of one storyline you enjoy into another narrative strikes me as needlessly
